Staff As Announcements

Pastor Larry Donner

As Senior Pastor at Good Shepherd, Larry has primary administrative responsibility for congregational planning, preaching, staff development and church management. He also oversees the congregation's extensive outreach ministry that communicates the gospel in tangible ways to people in need in the local community or across the world.  Larry and his wife, Joyce, have two grown children and two ornery cats. He received his Masters of Divinity degree from Trinity Lutheran Seminary and his undergraduate degree from the University of Maryland.

Pastor Pat Badkey

Pat is responsible for family faith enrichment activities. She oversees confirmation and all youth activities in the congregation. Pat is a graduate of Texas Lutheran College and has her Masters of Divinity degree from Trinity Lutheran Seminary. She has served the congregation of Good Shepherd since 1989. She and her husband, Steve, have a daughter who recently graduated from Denison University and who has now made the transition to the work world.

Pastor Jess Abbott

Jess oversees the caring ministries of the congregation, fellowship activities, small group ministries, and adult education. He is also responsible for assimilation of new members. Jess is a graduate of Western Michigan University, Kalamazoo (B.B.A.), Luther Theological Seminary (M.Div.), St. Paul, and Western Theological Seminary, Holland MI (D.Min.). He is married to Cindy, and they have three sons and one granddaughter.

Pastor Alice Conner

Alice is finding her way both as Director of Young Adult and Campus Ministries and as a Christian. She has degrees from Transylvania University (BA in Theatre) and Trinity Lutheran/Bexley Hall Episcopal Seminary (MDiv). She and her husband and new baby love food of all stripes. Alice is a fiber artist, a pie baker, and a church geek. She is also an Episcopal priest, but don't hold that against her. Because of the document "Called to Common Mission," the Episcopal and Lutheran churches are in full communion, coming together where the church has historically pulled apart. Alice is thrilled to be working with the University of Cincinnati community and hopes you'll come visit the campus. Barbara Andrews

As the Church Secretary, Barb prepares bulletins, orders office supplies, and makes the office runs smoothly. Barb, who is proficient in many areas including law and business, says she has been a secretary "forever!" She and her husband, Russ, live in Evendale and never moved far from home. They have two grown children and four grandchildren. If you have a question, Barb can help steer you in the right direction.

Debbie Fread

Debbie is Good Shepherd’s Communications Specialist with responsibilities for the design of printed materials including The Shepherds Horn (the church newsletter) and a myriad of brochures, flyers, posters and advertisements. Debbie is a prime example that, as the book title states, “the world is flat” because, after many years of working in the church office, Debbie moved with her family to Florida iand now “telecommutes” to Good Shepherd. We benefit from her long distance expertise while she gets to bask in the Florida sunshine with her husband, son and daughter.

Ken Holdt

Ken serves Good Shepherd as Director of Contemporary Worship and Music, leading the 9:30 worship service on Sundays. Ken directs the Praise Band, Praise Teams, Victory Singers choir, PowerPoint Operators and Creators, and Sound Technicians. In his “other life,” Ken teaches high school choral music in the Sycamore Community Schools. A graduate of CCM and current Masters candidate in the choral conducting program at Florida State University, he has worked as music director, assistant music director, vocal coach, pit orchestra and rehearsal pianist, trumpet player, orchestrator, arranger, and transcriber around the city.

Jen Jarman

Jen wears two hats at Good Shepherd. She is both Director of Faith Formation for Chidren & Youth, and the Developer of Youth Ministry. Jen has been involved in youth ministry since 2003. When she is not at home, she can most likely be found in the Senior High room at Good Shepherd. She particularly enjoys the aspects of teaching and service when working with youth and hopes to one day serve internationally. Jen graduated from Canisius College in Buffalo, NY, and served a year in Americorps. She is married and raising a teenage cousin, along with caring for two devoted felines.

Debbie Jones

Debbie serves as Director of the Ministry of Worship and Music at Good Shepherd, overseeing the church's worship and music programs. She directs the church bell choirs, Chancel Choir, Brass Ensemble and is organist for the traditional worship services. She is a graduate of Wittenberg University with both bachelor and master degrees in music, holds Levels 1 & 2 in Orff Music Certification and is an Associate in Ministry in the Lutheran Church. Debbie has been at Good Shepherd since September 1987. She is married to Steve, and they have one daughter.

Jodi Keith

Jodi works with Pastor Jess as the Developer of Small Groups & Fellowship. She serves as Good Shepherd's liaison to the small group leaders, helps develop new small groups, and plans and implements fellowship activities. Jodi also serves in volunteer roles in Good Shepherd’s Worship & Music, Adult Education, and Nursery School ministries. Jodi holds degrees from Valparaiso University and the University of Pennsylvania. She is married to Jonathan Keith and they are parents to two teenaged children, Dan and Marjorie, and live in Montgomery.

Linda Lally

Linda uses her musical gifts as the Director of the 5:00 Saturday service, a casual, blended worship experience that is ideal for those who are unable to worship on Sunday mornings. Linda holds a Master of Music Degree from the University of Cincinnati Conservatory of Music, and a Bachelor of Music degree from Capital University.

Anne Miller

Anne is the Administrative Assistant to Pastor Pat. She holds bachelors and masters degrees from Indiana University, and was employed in a variety of manufacturing management positions at Procter and Gamble before leaving to raise her children.

Barbara Moore

Barb is the new Custodian for Good Shepherd who keeps everything sparkling and assures that rooms are set up for the multitude of church and community groups that use the facility. She is energetic and friendly, and ever-ready to help make your time at Good Shepherd pleasant.

Betsy Schutte

Betsy works part time with Pastor Larry as the Outreach Ministry Assistant. Her role at Good Shepherd includes providing support for both new and existing outreach ministries. These ministries include local, regional, national and international outreach. She is also responsible for managing the publicity and helping secure funding for these ministries. Betsy is a trained Stephen Minister and feels that her service at Good Shepherd is an ideal opportunity for her because she can combine her love for helping those in need with her Marketing education. She holds degrees from Vincennes University, and Northern Kentucky University School of Business. She and her husband Rob are raising two children in Mason.

Brenda Weinhart

As the Children's Music Director, Brenda directs the Cherub Choir and music for the “M.A.D. for Jesus” Wednesday night youth program. Brenda graduated from the School for Creative and Performing Arts majoring in drama and voice. She is currently finishing her Bachelors in Special Education at the University of Cincinnati. Brenda is a member of Cincinnati Orff-Schulwerk Chapter (Music and Movement Education, a recipient of the Orff Scholarship, and certified in Orff levels I. She and her husband, Michael, have two young sons.

Jan Zinnecker

Jan works part time as the Congregational Life Assistant and the Assimilation Caller. As such, she schedules worship volunteers, helps maintain the database, and contacts visitors to try to help them find a niche here at Good Shepherd. She received a Mechanical Engineering degree from Valparaiso University but "retired" from full-time employment to raise three daughters.

Kathy Zubelik

Kathy is responsible for the church's nursery ministry on Sundays, as well as during other weekday church programs. The nursery is open to children age 3 and under during Sunday mornings (older children go to Sunday school or worship) and age 12 and under for other events.
