Senior High Ministry - Grades 9-12Minimize

Activities, in addition to the weekly Sunday School class, are planned by the youth monthly and include social events, service projects and fundraisers. Summer trips are taken each year, such as the ELCA National Youth Gathering, a week at the beach or servant trips to various locations. Leadership opportunities for Senior High students exist in a large group or a small group environment.

  

Sunday SchoolMinimize

Senior High Sunday School is comprised of students in 9th - 12th grades. The class builds relationships through discussion and small group activities around topical issues related to faith and Bible. This class also functions as the weekly youth group meeting time for Senior High students at GSLC. Senior High Sunday School meets in Room 108 at 9:30am each Sunday morning September - May.

Sunday, August 15th, 6 to 10 p.m., Dinner and a Movie in Fellowship Hall

Join us for a casual evening of food, fun and a movie on August 15th.  We will have food from Chipotle, and watch the movie Heavyweights on the big screen.  Bring $5 for dinner and a snack or dessert to share.  Signup or email Jen Jarman at jjarman@goodshepherd.com by August 12th.

Sunday, August 22nd, 10:30 a.m., Senior High Open House in Room #108

Parents and students are invited to join Pastor Pat and Jen Jarman for a complete review of the senior high program at Good Shepherd.  Sunday School and the events planned for this year will be covered, as well as our transportation and trip policies.  Please plan to attend, if at all possible.

Sunday, August 29th, Noon to 6 p.m., Back to School Canoe Trip

We will meet at Good Shepherd at noon, stop for a fast food lunch, and go to Scenic River Excursions for an afternoon of canoeing, returning to church about 6 p.m.  Cost is $15 (the church will pay for lunch).  Bring a change of clothes in case you get wet, your new Good Shepherd emergency form, and the waiver from Scenic River Excursions.  We need to reserve the number of canoes in advance, so please signup or email Jen Jarman at jjarman@goodshepherd.com, no later than Monday, August 23rd.  We also need adults to go along; have them contact Jen Jarman to volunteer.

"Be With"Minimize

The "Be With" group is a small group of invited Senior High students that explore together what it means to be Christ-like in the world. This program combines small group meetings and individual mentoring with the adult group leader throughout each month. This group meets September - May during the year. Wednesday, August 4th, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Day Trip to Coney Island
Meet at church at 10 a.m., and we will head to Coney Island for a
day of fun and relaxation together. The cost is $20, plus bring a bag
lunch and your swimsuit and towel. Signup or email Jen Jarman at

TILT - The Interactive Leadership TeamMinimize

TILT members work together as a team to provide social opportunities for all Senior High students by providing ideas, organization and follow-up for Senior High events at GSLC. The purpose of these events to help young Christians grow in their faith together in a postmodern world.

Summer Trips - 2009Minimize

Senior High students will have the opportunity to participate in the 2009 ELCA National Youth Gathering in New Orleans, LA., July 22nd - July 26th. The 2009 theme is "Jesus, Justice and Jazz" and there will be a service component during the event.
