Children & Families

You want your children to learn about God and the Bible.

So we've created opportunities for your children to grow their faith at any age, from Pre-K through High School.  A couple of ways Good Shepherd does this are:

Kids Connect is Good Shepherd's version of Sunday School.  It's open to grades Pre-K through 6th Grade.  Students learn about Bible through stories, song, art, activities, and fun.  Kids Connect happens each Sunday at 10:10 am in Room 100 during the school year.

Faith Milestones are celebrations of important moments of faith in our lives.  Examples of youth Faith Milestones are being baptized, becoming a confirmed member of the Lutheran Church, and graduating High School.

Youth Groups provide young folks friendship, opportunities to serve others, and time to explore their faith with their peers.  Good Shepherd offers three different youth groups:  Tweens (Grades 4 - 6), Confirmation (Grades 7-8), and Senior High (Grades 9-12).

You can learn about these and other youth and family programs by clicking the pictures below.

Senior High (aka "The Flock")

Event date: 5/28/2023 9:08 AM - 10:00 AM Export event

What do loading bags of mulch into the back of a pick-up truck, doing a trust fall, or eating s'mores over a campfire in someone's backyard all have in common?  They are activites one would be able to do with Good Shepherd's Senior High Youth Group, "The Flock"!

The heart of The Flock is the Sunday morning meeting, where students discuss a variety of topics that help build and form the faith of our senior high youth.  Topics range from current events to common social issues faced in high school and how students feel called to respond through their faith in Christ.  It's all about how students can take their faith outside into their homes, schools, and neighborhoods.

Outside of Sundays, The Flock is active in service projects and fellowship events on a monthly basis.  Regular volunteer opportunites at Tikkun Farm (an urban farm in Mt Healthy) or Vida E†erna–Iglesia Luterana, aka VEIL, give students the opportunity to serve others.  Backyard campfires, hikes in the woods, whitewater rafting, or game nights help forge lasting relationships.  Senior High students can also take advantage of weekend overnight retreats during the school year or summer trips to the National Youth Gathering, whitewater rafting, or week-long service projects out-of-state.

The Flock meets each Sunday in Room 108 at 9:08 am.

If you have questions about The Flock or would like information on how to join, contact Jen Jarman at jjarman@goodshepherd.com.
