Children & Families

You want your children to learn about God and the Bible.

So we've created opportunities for your children to grow their faith at any age, from Pre-K through High School.  A couple of ways Good Shepherd does this are:

Kids Connect is Good Shepherd's version of Sunday School.  It's open to grades Pre-K through 6th Grade.  Students learn about Bible through stories, song, art, activities, and fun.  Kids Connect happens each Sunday at 10:10 am in Room 100 during the school year.

Faith Milestones are celebrations of important moments of faith in our lives.  Examples of youth Faith Milestones are being baptized, becoming a confirmed member of the Lutheran Church, and graduating High School.

Youth Groups provide young folks friendship, opportunities to serve others, and time to explore their faith with their peers.  Good Shepherd offers three different youth groups:  Tweens (Grades 4 - 6), Confirmation (Grades 7-8), and Senior High (Grades 9-12).

You can learn about these and other youth and family programs by clicking the pictures below.

Summer Camp

Sunsets at the lake are a favorite pastime at Camp Luther.
Silly songs, campfires, and memories that last a lifetime are what summer camp is all about!

Good Shepherd attends summer camp at both Camp Luther (in northern Ohio along Lake Erie) and Lutheridge (in mountains of North Carolina).  Although the settings and experiences differ, both offer folks the opportunity to learn to live in community and connect with God in an environment that is fun and relaxing.

Camp Luther

Camp Luther is a week-long "family camp" program.  The camp features daily chapel, songs, free-time, crafts, and other outdoor actvities.  Set along the shore of Lake Erie, taking in sunsets is also highly encouraged.    Camp Luther is part of Lutheran Outdoor Ministires in Ohio (LOMO), which offers other weekend retreats and experiences at other sites during the school year (such as the yearly Middle School Mix).

Lutheridge

Not only does Lutheridge also offer a family camp experience for families, but it also offers age-specific camps for youth.  This camp features daily vespers, songs, free-time, crafts, kids camp (a morning program for children in family camp), adult fellowship time, and adventures off-property in the Blue Ridge Mountains (such as hiking in the Pisgah National Forest or whitewater rafting on the Pigeon River).  Lutheridge is located just outside of Asheville, NC.  Youth also have the opportunity to catch a ride from Lutheridge to Lutherock, an off-site more primitive camping location within the Novusway network of camps.
