Heidi Johns Luke 4:16-19 16 When he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up, he went to the synagogue on the sabbath day, as was his custom. He stood up to read, 17 and the scroll of the prophet Isaiah was given to him. He unrolled the scroll and found the place where it was written: 18 “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to bring good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim release to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to let the oppressed go free, 19 to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.” It is clear that for much of his ministry Jesus spent time with folks on the margins of society. He didn’t seem to be much enthralled with the rich and powerful, but instead sought out the poor and vulnerable. In our ministry we seek to be a clear reflection of Jesus showing his love for those who can easily be left behind or forgotten. Good Shepherd is committed to reaching out to those who are often on the edges. Here is a video we shared in worship in May in which we are reminded that we are called to be agents of Hope in our community. https://youtu.be/7vyxsXdY6C8 Your generosity enables these outreach opportunities to bear fruit. As we approach the end of the fiscal year we encourage your donations to help us end the year with a strong financial standing.
