Devotionals are short essays written by GSLC members and staff that explore the ways the Holy Spirit works within our every day lives.  There are several ways we invite you to use these devotionals:

  • Make them a part of a prayer practice - read a devotion and consider the ways that Christ has worked similarly in your life or works in unexpected ways.
  • Make them a part of a journaling practice - read a devotion and journal about what the Holy Spirit is stirring in you as you reflect on the essay.
  • Use them as a reminder that God works in all things, the bad and the good.

With over 400 available devotions, you can use these daily, weekly, or monthly.  It's up to you!  We just hope that by reading these inspiring stories provided by Good Shepherd's flock you are able to better see where Jesus is present in all things!  Thank you to all of our members that have provided devotionals throughout the past couple of years!

Give Happily To God Leviticus 23

GSLC seeks to be a caring Christian community where we share God’s grace, grow in faith and serve others. VBS is a ministry that truly allows us to do all those things at the same time. But how can we serve others when we can’t gather together? How could we incorporate a mission project into our digital VBS program this year? The solution came in the form of a partnership that I never imagined for VBS.

Hebrews 13:16

“Don’t forget to do good and to share what you have, because God is pleased with these kinds of sacrifices.”

As GSLC staff were cooking up a new way to deliver VBS, our friends at Prince of Peace (POP) Lutheran in Loveland were also trying to discern how to offer VBS to their community as well. As I was sharing our new format with a group of Youth and Family ministry folks via a monthly Zoom meeting, an idea was sparked - what if GSLC and POP combined to offer VBS together? GSLC had a new delivery model, a curriculum ready to use, and the Worship Window format for delivery. POP had musicians, staff to help with written instructions for activities and contact with mission partners. We each gave what we had happily to the mission of VBS.

We are also giving out our VBS Take Home boxes free of charge this summer. Families will be given all the materials that they need to complete a daily craft, game and science experiment at no charge.

Finally, we are inviting families to practice giving happily by supporting current ministry partnerships that both GSLC and POP also currently support - Haitian Timoun Foundation (HTF) and Vida Eterna-Iglesia Luterana (VEIL). For every $80 we collect for HTF, one Haitian family will receive two months of food, including cooking oil, 12 packages of pasta, 55lb bag of rice, box of canned fish. VEIL is asking for donations of the following ethnic food staples their families depend on: Bagged White Rice, Goya Canned Beans (Black or Red), Bagged Dry Beans (Black or Pinto Beans), Tortilla Flour, Spices: Salt (not Kosher or Sea Salt), Ground cumin, Adobo seasoning (it's a powder), Cilantro (broken leaves), Bay leaves (Hoja de Laurel in Spanish), Black pepper, Cinnamon (for sweet dishes).

How have you given happily to God recently? Can you give happily to God through an additional gift to HTF or VEIL in support of our VBS collection? GSLC is accepting Cash/Check donations for HTF and food donations for VEIL through July 4th.
