(v. 4b) Did we miss something? God rested on the seventh day after “finishing his work” in verse 2. Then, beginning in verse 4b, we read "Another Account of the Creation,” the title of the rest of the passage in my Study Bible. Two creations? How is that possible? Some may struggle with two differing creation accounts. Can they be woven together somehow into just one account? Perhaps, but I am not so sure that is necessary. The Edge House is a part of an interfaith collation of university religious organizations. We come from different denominations, faiths, and understandings of God. We all value the book of Genesis, including of course our Jewish partners, but our telling of the story is different. Like the different ways we tell the story of faith, in our passage today there are two versions of the same story. God is creator and we are an important part of that creation. That story is the same. Creating God, thank you for the different stories that show us who you are. Amen.
