Look at what is before your eyes. v. 7a Lately I’ve been paying attention to things. And not just the things we all need to pay attention to like deadlines, traffic lights, and those with whom we are talking. I’ve been paying attention to little things like the side view of an ant crawling across the cement near by back door. Or the way that leaves and branches of the trees in the woods next to my house seem to each have their own way of bending in the wind. For the Desert Fathers, the practice of attention was of vital importance to their contemplative practice which also extended into their lives in community. Prior to practicing this aspect of contemplative prayer. I missed out on moments with the beauty of nature and God right in front of me. Today Paul reminds us to look at what is right in front of us. We belong to Christ. It is right before our eyes. God, open our eyes to what is right in front of us, through the grace of Jesus the Christ.
