Welcome to Good Shepherd’s Daily Devotions Page!

In the church year the season of Epiphany falls between the seasons of Christmas and Lent.  It is a time when we focus on how God’s hope is revealed in Jesus.  In this season we read the stories of the Baptism and Transfiguration of Jesus and the calling of the Disciples.  Each story reveals a bit about who Jesus is, and what his life means for us and our call to be disciples.

Our Devotions for the season of Epiphany have been written by members of the Good Shepherd staff.  May they enlighten and inspire you and light your path to a deeper walk with God.

Faith5: Share

Over the holidays I refreshed myself with a spiritual practice that has truly blessed my family. I realized in the midst of these ever-changing schedules, my family and I had not been observing our practice of “doing our Faith5.” 

Faith5 is a way that many households at GSLC connect with one another and with God every day. This week, I want to cover all the steps of the Faith5 in hopes that you might practice it as well. 

Each devotion this week will have the practice, some reflection on its importance, and a video from the creator of Faith5, Dr. Rich Melheim.

Today, I am going to challenge you to practice just ONE piece of the Faith5: Share

In our house that means a sharing of our highs and lows. It allows us to listen and connect with one another on the comings and goings of our day. It’s an opportunity to comfort each other and celebrate with each other.  In the midst of challenging times, it can feel strange to share with someone that you experienced something GOOD. But it’s part of our tradition as people of God. Not just to comfort and mourn with those who mourn, but to celebrate with those who are celebrating!

8 Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.

Today may be challenging. We will have no shortage of lows some days… but be on the lookout for whatever is true, noble, right, pure, lovely, or admirable.     Video
