Mark 6:1-13

Healing without bounds

…[H]e laid his hands on a few sick people and cured them. v. 5b

Even though Jesus is rejected by his own community and they do not believe what he taught, Jesus still healed those that were sick. The scripture does not even say specifically that the people Jesus healed had any faith. He does not “shake the dust off his feet” as he tells his disciples later in the reading when they experience rejection. Jesus still heals. This says a lot about our God.

God’s love is so big and God’s care for us so great, that God heals even after being rejected. There have been times in my life when I was filled with unbelief and even rejected God. Yet somehow, the God of the Universe still thought I was worth it and healed me and continues to grant me grace day after day.

God of grace, thank you for healing us with your love even when we struggle to believe. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
