Daily Devotions

For the next several weeks, as we observe the “Stewardship Season”, our daily devotions will be written by members of Good Shepherd.  I (Pastor Heidi) asked these folks to reflect on how the ministry of Good Shepherd impacts their life, whether through relationships they have, worship experiences or other meaningful ways our corporate life touches them.  As you read their powerful testimonies let your mind also explore how Good Shepherd’s ministry has touched YOUR life in meaningful ways.  How has your faith be deepened because of your church home?

Just a reminder that May 23rd is Stewardship Sunday and we are inviting you to return your Estimate of Giving card on that day when you come to worship.  You can also mail your form in, or fill it out on line.  Our goal as a congregation is to increase our giving by $1000 per week in the year ahead. Thank you.  Now enjoy today’s devotion.

Daily Devotion

Our daily devotions will take a different approach from October 19-30 as we focus on Hunger in conjunction with our NEEDS food drive.  Each day we will watch a short video from ELCA World Hunger.   Today’s video offers information about the broad scope of work required to truly bring sustainable change to people’s lives.  First people need relief from unmet immediate needs such as hunger.  But other help needs to be implemented such as development, education and advocacy for things to really change.  This video will give you much to ponder.  I hope you will consider where God is calling you to put yourself in a position to be transformed.  (Hint, transformation rarely happens as long as we stay in our comfort zone).

Please watch today’s video and reflect on the questions below:  Video Link

Did any of the statistics in the video surprise you?

Do you agree with the statement that God has given us an abundant creation, and there is enough for everyone?  If you agree, what factors lead to everyone not having enough?

What did you find most hopeful in this video?
