Good Shepherd Lutheran Church / Tuesday, October 20, 2020 / Categories: Publications, Daily Devotions Daily Devotion Our daily devotions will take a different approach from October 19-30 as we focus on Hunger in conjunction with our NEEDS food drive. Each day we will watch a short video from ELCA World Hunger. Today’s video takes us to Huntington Station, NY and a Lutheran church that worked to keep it’s food pantry safe and open during the shut-downs caused by COVID-19. They learned about love and generosity as strong financial support was given to them for their work in the community and they were able to be even more generous themselves. They learned what it is to be blessed to be a blessing and that you find life by giving it away. Please watch today’s video and reflect on the questions below: Video Link As is true for many food pantries, the pantry in the video double their food distribution in the early days of COVID. What do you think it would be like to have to get help from a food pantry for the first time? Would you feel shame? Fear? Appreciation? What would it be like to encounter Christ-like volunteers who offered you kindness and hospitality? We can be the presence of Christ to our neighbors in need in the midst of these challenging times, contributing to NEEDS is one way to do that.
