Good Shepherd Lutheran Church / Wednesday, October 7, 2020 / Categories: Publications, Daily Devotions Daily Devotion Tina Morawski Remember the first few days of lockdown in mid-March 2020? Many of us spent extra time on our computers and iPads, checking for news, searching for supplies, reconnecting with friends and family. A Facebook friend I had met at a convention years ago posted a video asking for prayers from everyone she knew as she faced a double mastectomy and months of chemotherapy. Her personal lockdown was much worse than what most were experiencing, yet she faced it on her knees and asked for company on the journey, confident that God would provide, again, in this trial. Lisa has reported to her 200 plus prayer partners weekly by video as she grew weary, lost her hair, and suffered infections that delayed her treatment. She thanks everyone and reports what God has done for her that week! Her family sometimes participates too, and her Facebook friends toast her with various raised glasses every Friday as she counts down to the last treatment. I’ve prayed for Lisa daily since March, and have marveled at the ways God is working in her, her family and friends, and in many others who have been touched by her courage and faith. I have no doubt that God is battling her cancer. What is more amazing is that hundreds of people have been led to daily conversations with God BECAUSE she asked for prayer. Were we all as busy as usual, many would have missed that request. I’ve been able to share good news with Lisa of another friend’s successful chemo journey and recovery. We may not be as social as usual during the pandemic, but we are experiencing God’s presence, power and healing through Lisa’s suffering, and she has testified to God’s wonderful care. God is in the midst of this large Facebook group and he is showing us what’s important during this pandemic. Matt. 18:20. Where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I in the midst of them.
