As I prayed about my devotional, several things came to mind, but I think it’s understandable that what’s in the forefront is still my/our grief over losing (my son) Josh.  It’s still overwhelming. 

In all things, give thanks.

Yet, almost immediately after his death, God’s perfect timing, and my urgent need for thankfulness in all things, became apparent.  Pastor Pat gave us immediate attention and after her sincere and faith-filled words of sympathy, she asked the most precious question - ‘did Josh get to see the newest Star Wars movie?’  I was so thankful for that brief lightening of the mood, and for her special and intimate awareness of how important that question was.  ‘Yes, Nick took Josh to see it.’

In all things, give thanks.

The days and months that followed, showed me how perfect God’s timing is/was and how I became blatantly aware of how thankful I am/was in everything that transpired.

Those who knew Josh, would likely know he could be a bit fearful of the future, mainly of further illness, and of the uncertainty of what the end would be like.  (He was, however, certain of eternal life - thankfully).  God’s timing ensured that Josh was saved from that, and escaped the fear of possibly contracting Covid-19, which would have been a horrific nightmare.

In all things, give thanks.

The outpouring of love and concern from our church family and friends, was beyond anything we could ever have imagined.  We are so eternally grateful to God for putting you in our lives/bringing us together.

Praise God, in ALL Things.
