Making All Things New

Hello Good Shepherd Family,

In Revelation 21 God says, “See, I am making all things new.”  What a wonderful word of hope for us as the daily grind of the “old” can tend to wear us down.  In worship during these first three weeks in May we are focusing on the theme, All Things New, as together we ponder this new thing God is doing among us.

Last week we focused on God’s desire to give us new eyes to see our neighbor through the power of relationships.  Our ministry at Good Shepherd reaches beyond writing checks to support important ministries. We also invest ourselves in relationships at Taft Elementary, VEIL our sister Latino congregation in West Chester, Habitat For Humanity among others.  These relationships give us new eyes to see that those who were once strangers, are indeed our siblings in Christ.

This week we will learn to listen for the voice of Jesus calling us in the midst of our noisy world. In our gospel story Jesus says, “My sheep hear my voice.” We need new ears to hear how Jesus is tenderly and lovingly guiding us.  Our IMPACT story will be the voices of the children of Good Shepherd as they share their experience of what the voice of Jesus sounds like.  You won’t want to miss it!
Making All Things New is the theme we are using to set aside these three weeks for each of us to prayerfully consider our financial support for the “New Thing” God is calling us to at Good Shepherd.  With new eyes to see, and new ears to hear we faithfully respond to God’s invitation to generously invest our financial resources and ourselves into how God is at work through the ministry of Good Shepherd.

Please fill out your Estimate of Giving Card and return it when you come to worship on the weekend of May 17/18.  There are EOG cards in the lobby at church.  Your investment in our ministry will empower us to faithfully see with God’s eyes and hear with God’s ears as we respond to the needs of the world. Thanks in advance for your generosity.
