January 15th: Schubert’s Winterreise featuring Paul Max Tipton, Bass-baritone

Franz Schubert’s Winterreise is perhaps the greatest song-cycle in music history. The cycle contains 24 songs that depicts the protagonist’s journey through a winter landscape as he reflects on lost love. Set to the poetry of German poet Wilhelm Müller, Schubert crafted a masterpiece in the year before his death, and we are proud to present a rare performance of the full cycle at Good Shepherd. This performance will feature Paul Max Tipton, an NYC based Bass-baritone whom the Atlanta Journal-Constitution has called a “dignified and beautiful singer.”  Mr. Tipton will be joined on piano for this performance by our very own Dr. Kevin Seal.
