“Train children in the right way, and when old, they will not stray.” — Proverbs 22:6

The road to discipleship starts at home for many of us.  Good Shepherd is committed to providing spirtual practices and faith formation resources to help children and famlies discern God's presence in their daily lives.  It is through a vareity of worship options, faith formation and fellowship events, and service opportunities that families build community and friendships and learn to share the light of God with the world.

"Heaven knows that John the Baptist was not more eager to get all his fellow sinners into the Jordan than I to baptize all of mine in the beauty of God's mountains." - John Muir

Many can attest to the transformative experiences we feel when spending time outdoors.  Be it on top of a mountain with amazing views or the quiet of a local park, spending time outside can help quiet the mind and connect us with God in unique ways.

Good Shepherd Outdoors is a new opportunity for folks to explore God's creation.  Maybe you are an avid backpacker or a nature path walker - Good Shepherd Outdoors will have opportunities for any and all to experience creation and see the ways that outdoor time improves our lives.  We will offer 4 different Good Shepherd Outdoor opportunities this church year:

  • November 6th, 10 am - Hiking at French Park (Amberley Village - about 10 minutes from GSLC).
  • February 5th, 10 am - Hiking at Miami Whitewater Forest (30 minutes from GSLC) with hot cocoa & coffee to warm us up after.
  • April 23rd, 10 am - Hiking (location to be determined) while exploring wildflower blooms.
  • June 25th, 10 am - Paddling on the Little Miami River (you'll be able to rent paddle craft from a local livery if you don't have your own boat(s)).

For the hiking events, Good Shepherd will provide several different hike lengths during each event so that walkers can choose their own adventure.  Short hiking options will be no longer than 1.5 miles, medium hikes will be around 2.5 to 3 miles, and longer hikes will be more than 3 miles for those interested in really stretching their legs. Participants are encouraged to wear sturdy shoes and clothing they don't mind getting a little dirty in the event of muddy conditions.  Bug spray, sunscreen, snacks, water, and a backpack are also good to have along.  Good Shepherd will also have at least one person that is familiar with the hiking route on each hiking option (as well as offering paper maps of the route to all participants).
