The road to discipleship starts at home for many of us.  Good Shepherd is committed to providing spirtual practices and faith formation resources to help children and famlies discern God's presence in their daily lives.  It is through a vareity of worship options, faith formation and fellowship events, and service opportunities that families build community and friendships and learn to share the light of God with the world.

Building Reading Skills with Sue

Children ages 5-9 have an opportunity to build their reading skills with GSLC member Sue Berkoben, a retired teacher of 39 years with a Masters degree in Reading . This 8-week reading enrichment program is open to any child and is free of charge. Classes start the week of September 26th. Contact Jen Jarman at with any questions or to make a reservation. Class size is limited.

Monday & Thursday - 45 min. - 3:30 to 4:15 - 8 and 9 year olds

This class is for 8 and 9 year olds who  have not yet reached their potential in reading.  It will cover any confusions about letters and sounds, common letter combinations, common spelling patterns, blending sounds together, and known sight words and new words appropriate for their age level.

Monday & Thursday - 35 min. - 4:20 to 4:55 - 5 and 6 year olds

This class is for 5 and 6 year olds who do not know the letters of the alphabet and the sounds they make, how to blend letters together to make words, how to write the letters - words, and a few basic sight words.

Monday & Thursday  - 35 min. - 5:00 to 5:35 - 6+ and 7 year olds

This class is for children who have already been in school.  It is a review  of the letters and sounds of the alphabet, letter combinations, how sounds are blended together to make words, some basic spelling tips, and review + adding more sight words to their reading vocabulary.
