Baptism Good Shepherd Lutheran Church is a congregation rooted in Baptism. Baptism is a means of grace. It is an ancient rite and a clear and concrete way that God reveals love and mercy to us. In Baptism we are welcomed into the Body of Christ fully. ALL are invited to take part in this gift of mercy. Confirmation Preparation A program for Junior High students, consisting of retreats, Sunday School and worship attendance, workshops and service, culminating in the rite of Confirmation at the end of the 8th grade year. Parental involvement is key to this program. Summer camping experiences are offered each year.
Faith Formation For Youth Youth ministry fosters the total personal and spiritual growth of each young person. It draws young people to responsible participation in the life, mission, and work of the Church. Read more.
First Communion Preparation Children and parents study the sacrament of Holy Communion in a five-week class during the middle of the 3rd grade. The youth then celebrate their First Communion with their families in March.
Fourth Grade Bible Program Presentation of Bibles to the children, along with a workshop to help the children learn to use their Bibles.
Introduction To Prayer A program for children ages two and three and their parents which introduces age-appropriate prayers to be used in the home.
Introduction to Worship Children in kindergarten and 1st grade are invited to attend an introduction to worship and its various components. This introduction helps children feel as if they belong in and can participate worship.
Literature & Our Faith Book Club This group meets at 7:30PM on the 3rd Monday of each month in GSLC's Library to discuss a book we are reading together. Books are announced at least one month in advance and all adults are welcome! Please contact Karen Mazzei with any questions.
Moms Of Faith (Mothers of school-aged children) Moms of Faith is a place where Christian Moms and wives can come together to support one another, pray for each other, and build relationships with other like-minded women. Read more.
MOPS (Mother Of Preschoolers) Time out for mothers to refresh themselves in body, mind and spirit, while preschool children are cared for in a loving environment with a spiritual message. Read more.
Senior High Sunday School class and senior high student group with a mixture of fun activities and service projects. Summer trips are held each year.
Special Summer Events Vacation Bible School, summer trips for Tweens, Junior and Senior High students, family camping opportunities and individual camping opportunities through Lutheran Outdoor Ministries of Ohio.
Women's Renewal Renewal is a process designed to deepen our individual relationship with Christ, while also developing our congregational faith journey. Participants often experience a “spiritual awakening” (or reawakening) as they participate in “Renewal Weekends” and then join a team to give another weekend six months later. Young Adults Group (YAG) Open to singles, couples, and people with or without children. We meet monthly for a social or volunteer activity. Pastor Alice has also created a Parents of Young Children group that meets monthly and offers free childcare. Finally, we facilitate Bible or book studies 3-4 times a year for young adults to foster personal spiritual growth while strengthening friendships. Read more.
Youth Milestone Ministries From Baptism to High School Baccalaureate. Good Shepherd seeks to support and celebrate the faith milestones reached by your children. These include cradle crosses at Baptism, preschool prayer and worship workshops, to first communion instruction and Fourth Grade Bible presentations. At Good Shepherd we seek to form disciples of all ages.
