Outreach

In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven. — Matthew 5:16

Good Shepherd is blessed to have a community that is dedicated to sharing the love of Christ with their neighbor through our active Outreach Ministry.  By earmarking 25% of our annual budget to Outreach, Good Shepherd is able to support a vareity of non-profit organizations such as Habitat for Humanity, the Haitian Timoun Foundation, Graceworks Lutheran Services, and Adopt A Class.  In addition to providing financial support, members serve at organizations such as Matthew 25 Ministries, Tikkun Farm, and Sweet Cheeks Diaper Bank to provide the labor necessary to further their missions.  It is through the generous support of our congregation that Good Shepherd is able to touch the lives of so many.

Taft Elementary - End of School Year Update

After a two year break due to Covid we were given wonderful weather for the year end picnic with our 4 Taft classes.  The students spent the morning at Cincinnati Observatory with the second graders learning about planets and the third graders learning about constellations.  They then arrived at the Ault Park playground where our volunteers were waiting with specially packed sack lunches for the students and a make your own sandwich and sides for the adults.  The students worked out their energy on the playground, playing with bubbles, drawing on the sidewalk and making bracelets and key chains. The students were given a goodie bag filled with space travel themed items as they climbed on the bus to return to school.  It was a wonderful way to end this challenging school year.  Thank you to all the Taft volunteers this year who helped with the Adopt a Class activities, tutored, helped in the pantry, helped in the garden, purchased books and helped build a library, and so generously provided treats, presents and the gift of your time and love. Mid June we will have more information on opportunities to help get the new library put together.  If you have any questions or are interested in knowing more about Good Shepherd’s ministry at Taft Elementary, please contact one of the ministry co-leaders, Sue Matz (513-646-6928 cell or sgmatz13@gmail.com) or Beth Townsend (513-607-0135 cell or beth.townsend@me.com). We would love to welcome you into the meaningful activities occurring at Taft Elementary.
