In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven. — Matthew 5:16

Good Shepherd is blessed to have a community that is dedicated to sharing the love of Christ with their neighbor through our active Outreach Ministry.  By earmarking 25% of our annual budget to Outreach, Good Shepherd is able to support a vareity of non-profit organizations such as Habitat for Humanity, the Haitian Timoun Foundation, Graceworks Lutheran Services, and Adopt A Class.  In addition to providing financial support, members serve at organizations such as Matthew 25 Ministries, Tikkun Farm, and Sweet Cheeks Diaper Bank to provide the labor necessary to further their missions.  It is through the generous support of our congregation that Good Shepherd is able to touch the lives of so many.

Graceworks - June 2022 Update

April and May were busy months for GSLCers involved with the Graceworks St. Marks senior community in Milford, especially for three members of the Monday Morning Crew.  Roy Johnson, Bob Hinman, and Tim Grabenstein each spent five+ days renovating the kitchen of a St. Marks apartment prior to a new resident’s move in.  They removed old, damaged cabinets and then installed new cabinets and reinstalled the kitchen countertops.

Good Shepherd also responded to St. Marks request to help the community establish a summer vegetable garden.  St. Marks needed raised plant beds so that residents with limited mobility can be involved in plant care and harvesting.  Roy Johnson built three beds, including a tiered one for herbs, which were filled with composted dirt from the mini farm of David and Mary Adams. Good Shepherd provided tomato and herb plants.

On May 6 St. Marks hosted a pizza party to celebrate the growing partnership between GSLC and St. Marks and recognize the residents who will care for the plants this summer.  Two St. Marks residents also created Mother’s Day cards and decorated gift bags for Good Shepherd Tweens to share with their moms.  These gifts were provided in response to the Tweens’ many acts of  kindnesses to residents over the past year.
