In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven. — Matthew 5:16

Good Shepherd is blessed to have a community that is dedicated to sharing the love of Christ with their neighbor through our active Outreach Ministry.  By earmarking 25% of our annual budget to Outreach, Good Shepherd is able to support a vareity of non-profit organizations such as Habitat for Humanity, the Haitian Timoun Foundation, Graceworks Lutheran Services, and Adopt A Class.  In addition to providing financial support, members serve at organizations such as Matthew 25 Ministries, Tikkun Farm, and Sweet Cheeks Diaper Bank to provide the labor necessary to further their missions.  It is through the generous support of our congregation that Good Shepherd is able to touch the lives of so many.

2nd Annual HTF Moving Mountains Gala
September 29, 2022 at 6:30pm
The Manor House, Mason OH

The Moving Mountains Gala is having life-giving impact for many many families in Haiti. The Gala started in 2021 as a way for HTF partner churches to come together and hear directly from our HTF program leaders - a new way to witness the work God is doing in Haiti, as we are currently unable to travel to the country. Last year’s Gala raised $108,000, enabling HTF to grow in supporting current partners such as sponsoring more college students through HELP, launching another cohort of 150 CLM families, and support a new partner Remember the Children of the South East (RSCE) who is who is helping to educate, teach citizenship, provide sports program and meals for over 30 children in Jacmel.

If you are interested in learning more about the work of HTF during a fun & educational evening, be on the lookout for more information on how you can attend the Gala with our GSLC community.

How else can you support HTF and the Gala? By providing items for the auction from our GSLC community! Last year we helped coordinate several basket donations. Attendees were feeling generous, as many items went for above the estimated value.

Here’s how you can help:

  • Groups or individuals may contribute silent auction baskets (valued in the range of $50-200). Often baskets have a theme, like dinner out, activities, etc. Wine, bourbon, craft brews, are always popular too, as well as local or national gift cards. It will be helpful to include your items in a basket if possible (no need to wrap) and the estimated value.
  • Donate a bottle of wine (worth around $20) for the wine pull.
  • Have a connection to a business, a vacation home, hard-to-find bourbon or other big ticket item? These higher value items will be part of a live auction.

We would like to have contributions to be delivered to the church office by September 1. If you’d like to contribute to the Gala auction, please contact Pr. Alex Hoops at ahoops@goodshepherd.com or Katie Zink at kzink@cinci.rr.com so we know to look for your items.

If you have questions about the Gala or HTF in general, please reach out to the team who traveled to Haiti in 2018 - Sue Matz, Karen Mazzei, Katie Zink, Alex Hoops. This organization is near & dear to our hearts as we had the opportunity to directly witness the breadth and depth of effort by this phenomenal grassroots organization.
