In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven. — Matthew 5:16

Good Shepherd is blessed to have a community that is dedicated to sharing the love of Christ with their neighbor through our active Outreach Ministry.  By earmarking 25% of our annual budget to Outreach, Good Shepherd is able to support a vareity of non-profit organizations such as Habitat for Humanity, the Haitian Timoun Foundation, Graceworks Lutheran Services, and Adopt A Class.  In addition to providing financial support, members serve at organizations such as Matthew 25 Ministries, Tikkun Farm, and Sweet Cheeks Diaper Bank to provide the labor necessary to further their missions.  It is through the generous support of our congregation that Good Shepherd is able to touch the lives of so many.

Advent & Christmas Outreach Results

Congregational Christmas Card

Thank you to all who donated to the Congregational Christmas Card.  Your generous donations raised $3851.00, which we will send to Tikkun Farm, a 3.5 acre Urban Farm in Mt. Healthy.  Tikkun Farm works to sow seeds of hope, repair the world and feed the hungry through monthly service opportunities.  In addition, their mission includes a Crockpot Meal program, job training for youth, and their Free Market.  You may have heard on the local news that Tikkun Farm suffered a devastating fire on Christmas Eve.  All the members of the Tikkun Farm community and animals are safe but they suffered the loss of their main structure.  They plan to rebuild, so the gift we will send to them could not come at a better time.  Once again thank you for supporting this unique ministry.

Christmas Gift Program

Thank you for participating in the Christmas Gift Program this year! For Found House IHN, you provided much needed gifts cards from Kroger and Target that they can distribute to families as needed.  Taft Elementary students received a gift bag with a sweatshirt, socks, lap blanket, stuffed animal and fidget toy.  Gifts were also bought for five Graceworks Enhanced Living homes.

Good Shepherd, your generosity is greatly appreciated by all the organizations we serve through our Christmas gift program! Thank you also to all those that donated their time to show the love of Christ to others through this program such as organizing the program, manning the table, and helping with the sorting and distributing the gifts.

Bible Babes Outreach

Bible Babes collected $235.00 at their Dec. 1 meeting and made the following choices from the ELCA Good Gifts catalog:  Fruit-tree Farm, Send a woman to Farming Field School and a clutch of 10 chicks.  Anyone can make a difference in the lives of God’s people in 80 countries of the world with gifts anytime of the year through the ELCA Good Gifts catalog.
