Outreach

In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven. — Matthew 5:16

Good Shepherd is blessed to have a community that is dedicated to sharing the love of Christ with their neighbor through our active Outreach Ministry.  By earmarking 25% of our annual budget to Outreach, Good Shepherd is able to support a vareity of non-profit organizations such as Habitat for Humanity, the Haitian Timoun Foundation, Graceworks Lutheran Services, and Adopt A Class.  In addition to providing financial support, members serve at organizations such as Matthew 25 Ministries, Tikkun Farm, and Sweet Cheeks Diaper Bank to provide the labor necessary to further their missions.  It is through the generous support of our congregation that Good Shepherd is able to touch the lives of so many.

Good Shepherd began a relationship with the Haitian Timoun Foundation through Pastor Alex.  Pastor Alex was in Haiti during the 2010 earthquake and saw the destruction and loss first hand.

When Pastor Alex accepted the call to join GSLC, we knew that our ministry would also take up his passion for helping our Haitian neighbors.

Good Shepherd Lutheran Church is a covanent community with HTF, providing an annual donation to support the work of the organization.

These annual contributions are made possible through your support of Good Shepherd's ministry through your offering and one-time donations.  You can support our ministry here.

Additionally, Good Shepherd members provide support to HTF through special appeals and other programs such as:

  • Sponsoring children to go to school in Haiti.
  • Donating to "Hoops for Haiti", a yearly friendly fundraising competition between Lutheran congregations that is paired with March Madness.
  • Participating in the "HTF Timoun Trot", a virtual 5k in which all the funds raised go directly to the organizations HTF supports.
  • Attending the "Moving Mountains Gala", an evening of dinner and auctions that is possibly HTF's single largest fundraising event of the year.
  • Responding to special appeals HTF may ask for in response to social unrest, natural disasters, or economic strife.

Danette Miller, HTF's Executive Director, provides an update on HTF's work in 2022.  You can download that letter by clicking here or downloading the PDF below.

Thank you for sharing your gifts with Good Shepherd and HTF so that we may continue to work towards ending poverty in Haiti.
