This year’s theme is “Truth, Beauty, & the Meaning of Life: A film series devoted to people who are searching…”.
This month’s film: The Seventh Seal (1957)
We are in the Dark Ages…….Antonius Block is a noble knight, returning home after years of service in the Crusades. Without warning, Death appears, informing him that his life is over. But Antonius is not ready to die; he is looking for truth and meaning from his God. Antonius also wants to find a significant task that he can complete, one that will justify his tortured existence. He cunningly challenges Death to a chess match to buy time for himself. Can he cheat Death long enough to accomplish his goals? A dark, but sometimes humorous on-the-road movie like none other, directed by the internationally famous Ingmar Bergman, with Max Von Sydow as the doomed knight.
