This month’s film: Tree of Life (2011)

On the surface, the story seems simple: a middle-aged architect named Jack O’ Brien thinks back on his life, looking for meaning. The viewer is taken back to his youth in Waco, Texas, showing life with his siblings. We also meet his parents, one who embodies the meaning of grace, the other who reflects raw nature. Director Terrence Malick frames this story on an unusual and very broad canvas! A visual feast awaits you in this spiritual film, featuring the work of Sean Penn, Brad Pitt, and a newcomer to the screen named Jessica Chastain.
